Pass Key Fault

I have a 95 Cadillac Fleetwood brougham with a 5.7 lt1 engine. My car won't start at all from the ignition; yet when I by pass it by starting it straight from the battery it turns over then turns right off. When I turn my key to the on position the dashboard lights all come on. But my engine didn't turn over. My pass key fault light is on. It usually comes on whenever I start the car and it goes right off usually. Unfortunately this time it's staying on.

That being said, the PassKey Fault idiot light advises that the security system isn't making the correct electronic connections. My understanding is that there are contacts in the locking mechanism in the steering column that need to complete an electrical connection so that the PassKey system is checked and satisfied
