A dirty shuttle race, improper thread routing or incorrect thread tension can break the bobbin thread. Unplug the sewing machine and check thread routing according to guidelines in your owner's manual. Reroute the thread correctly if necessary.

Why is my sewing machine not picking up the bottom thread?

If it is not in the correct position, the needle will not go down and pick-up your bobbin thread. ... Also, make sure your bobbin is in correctly (not backwards) and that the upper tension disks of your machine are threaded correctly. Make sure the presser foot is up when seating the thread through the upper tension.

How do you wind the bobbin on a Brother LS 1520?

Turn the bobbin clockwise, by hand, until the spring slides into the slit. While holding the end of the thread, gently press the foot controller or press the start/stop button (for models equipped with the start/stop button) to wind the thread around the bobbin a few times. Then, stop the machine.

Why does my thread keep getting caught on my fabric?

This can happen because the tension of the top stitch doesn't match the stitch type you are using. Try adjusting the tension according to the stitch's recommended tension. Then try sewing again.

How do you fix the bobbin tension on a Brother sewing machine?

The bobbin case installed in this machine can be adjusted, if necessary, to accommodate the bobbin tension for embroidering.

Using a small slotted screwdriver, turn the slotted head (-) screw to adjust the bobbin case tension. ...

The thread tension is correct when upper thread slightly appears on the wrong side of fabric.

What is wrong with my bobbin thread?

There are several culprits for this ranging from a dull needle, improper threading or tension. The tension in both your upper and bobbin threads need to be even. The bobbin could also be placed incorrectly. More than likely, you forgot to put the bobbin back correctly while cleaning your machine

What tension should my sewing machine be on?

The dial settings run from 0 to 9, so 4.5 is generally the 'default' position for normal straight-stitch sewing. This should be suitable for most fabrics. If you are doing a zig-zag stitch, or another stitch that has width, then you may find that the bobbin thread is pulled through to the top.
