First, let's make sure everything is properly connected. Double-check that the aux cord is securely plugged into both your MP3 player and the aux input on the unit. Sometimes a loose connection can be the culprit.
If the connections look good, it's possible that the issue lies with the settings on the unit. Make sure that the input mode is set correctly to "AUX" or "AUX IN." Refer to the user manual of the Boss Audio MC500 unit for detailed instructions on how to navigate the settings.
If you're still experiencing issues, there may be compatibility problems between the MP3 player and the unit. Check if the MP3 player is compatible with the unit by referring to their respective user manuals or contacting the manufacturer's customer support for assistance.
If none of these steps resolve the problem, it might be worth trying a different aux cord or even testing the MP3 player on another compatible audio device to see if it's functioning correctly.

Make sure the AUX cable is properly plugged into both the stereo and the MP3 player. The cable should be snugly inserted into the AUX ports on both devices.
Try using a different AUX cable. It is possible that the cable you are using is faulty.
Make sure the AUX input is selected on the stereo. On most stereos, you can select the AUX input by pressing the AUX button or by cycling through the input sources using the input button.
Try adjusting the volume on both the stereo and the MP3 player. It is possible that the volume on one or both devices is turned down too low.
Make sure the MP3 player is in play mode.
Try restarting both the stereo and the MP3 player.
If you have tried all of the above and the stereo is still not playing your MP3 player, it is possible that there is a problem with the stereo's AUX input. In this case, you will need to take the stereo to a qualified repair technician.
Here are some additional tips:
Try using a different MP3 player. It is possible that your stereo is not compatible with the MP3 player you are using.
Try connecting the MP3 player to the stereo using a different type of input, such as the headphone jack.
Reset the stereo to factory defaults.
If you are still having trouble, you can contact Boss Audio support for further assistance.
