Short In Qc3 Headset

Good morning,  my qc3 headphones has recently gone blitzy.  I will hear a little 'click' sound and then the red play light goes out  (like the battery is dead) and there is no more music.  I turn it off, wait a moment, turn it back on get music for maybe a second or two and then I hear the 'click' and the red light goes out and no sound.  It is not the battery or the cord leading to the leadphones.  It is in the headphones itself.  I do not know how to take them apart to check for a short or frayed wire.  I did remove the 2 tiny screws just under the battery but the cover did not come off w/some tension and I was worried about snapping a clasp or somethilng. Can you pls help?  My day has turned into 'work' instead of enjoyment w/o my headphones:(  I just can't go on like this!
