Iphone 3gs Not Responding To Mie2i Headphones

The headphones work fine, but the remote on the phones for talking and controlling the phone are not working. Any suggestions?

I had the same problem. For me, the solution was to clean the jack on the iphone. Some dirt had found it´s way into it and prevented the last 0,5 mm of the plug to be inserted. I used a small needle. Now it works fine.
