If your BEC SP601 garage door opener motor is making a strong noise even without the chain attached, it could indicate a mechanical issue or a problem with the motor itself. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:
  1. Lubricate the motor: Apply lubrication to the moving parts of the motor, including the bearings and gears. Use a lubricant specifically designed for garage door openers or consult the manufacturer's recommendations. Lack of lubrication can cause increased friction and noise.
  2. Check for loose components: Ensure that all screws, bolts, and brackets on the motor assembly are properly tightened. Loose components can cause vibrations and noise during operation. Carefully inspect the motor and tighten any loose parts if necessary.
  3. Inspect for obstructions: Check for any debris or objects that may have fallen into the motor housing. Even small objects can cause noise when the motor is running. Clear out any obstructions or foreign objects if found.
  4. Check motor mounts: Examine the motor mounts to ensure they are securely fastened. If the mounts are loose or damaged, they may cause excessive vibration and noise. Tighten or replace the motor mounts as needed.
