Changing the filters is really easy. There are four filters to maintain. The two filters located underneath the filter cup can be hand washed in warm water & mild detergent, rinse thoroughly, and completely air dry before replacing. The HEPA Media filter located behind the red rectangular area is not washable and should be replaced when dirty. The premotor filter is located in the center of the latch and is also washable.

The red plastic part located above the dirt cup can be removed by twisting clockwise and washed.
