Press and hold the Power button and the Volume Down button at the same time for about 10 seconds, until the phone restarts.
Hard reset:
Turn off the phone.
Press and hold the Power button, the Volume Up button, and the Home button (if your phone has one) at the same time.
When you see the Android logo, release the buttons.
Use the volume buttons to navigate to "Wipe data/factory reset" and press the Power button to select it.
Use the volume buttons to navigate to "Yes -- delete all user data" and press the Power button to select it.
The phone will erase your data and then restart.
Note: A hard reset will erase all of your data from the phone, including your contacts, messages, and apps. It is important to back up your data before doing a hard reset.
