Fabric Softener

My washer does not have a fabric softener despenser, so my friend removed the cap on the stem and poured the liquid fabric softener into the stem. He is convinced that the screw in the bottom of the stem releases the fabric softener into the wash during the rinse. I have never had a washer where the fabric softener dispenser was not removable for cleaning. Is it safe for the washer to pour softener directly into the stem?

Yes, on the Amana NTW4650YQ, the fabric softener goes in the "stem". After adding the fabric softener, it is recommended that you dilute it with warm water, filling it until the liquid level reaches the under side of the rim. Also, be sure to set your Fabric Softener option knob to "Yes".
