Alpine Cde-121 Stopped Recognizing My Ipod-nano (says No Device).

My Alpine CDE-121 stopped recognizing my ipon-nano.  I don't know whether the cord has gone bad or there is some other problem.  I'm wondering about the best approach to troubleshooting this problem. Thanks in advance for your response.
