Connecting A Macbook Pro To An Acer Al1906
I tried to connect a MacBook Pro (Late 2013 - Mavericks) to an Acer AL1906, using a cable VGA to HDMI; but after I had it set up, nothing happened. I check on the System Preferences for displays, and it never found another device. The closest thing was that at some point, the screen of the MacBook Pro started flashing, but nothing else happened after that.

There's no such thing as a VGA-to-HDMI cable. VGA is analog and HDMI is digital so you can't simply go from one to the other without converting the signal. You would have to purchase a VGA-to-HDMI converter.
