Switch Electric To My Name

I just bought a house in Mayer. I'm moving there in 10 days. How do I get the electric put into my name?Does the current owner have to turn it off before I can put it in my name?

Choose a service start date. This can be any day within 10 business days of your move-in date.

Pay a deposit, if required.

You do not need to have the current owner turn off the electric service before you can put it in your name. APS will automatically disconnect service for the previous owner on the day that you start your service.

This is what should be done

First: Papers required to be submitted to transfer the electricity meter:

These following documents are submitted when transferring the electricity meter from one person to another, or transferring the electric meter from one subscriber to another, at the electricity company to which the property belongs:

1- A copy of the personal or family card of the new subscriber and also of the previous owner who has transferred it in the event of transferring the meter, along with the original for review.

2- A copy of the lease or ownership contract and the original for review.

3- In the event that the owner of the electricity meter does not attend in person, a copy of a general official power of attorney is presented, as well as the agent's card and the original for review, as ownership of the meter can be transferred to the new owner by power of attorney.

4- A recent electricity receipt for the meter to be changed or waived.

Second: The most important procedures that must be followed when transferring ownership of the meter, whether in the presence of the original apartment owner or by his authorization of a lawyer or the new buyer to complete the required procedures and change the name of the meter owner.

1- Contact the electricity company in the area where the property belongs during official working hours.

2- Submit the above-mentioned documents, fill out the electricity meter ownership transfer form, and pay the required fees.
