How Do I Check To See If My Aarp Membership Has Been Activated?

I think my AARP account has been activated but I am not sure. I have no password or username that I know about and your numerous websites are so convoluted it is almost impossible for a person who is not tech savvy to navigate. Is it even possible to call a number and talk to a representative to get a simple answer?
