Installing a Garage Door Opener If you have a garage door opener, the front overhead compartment can also be used to point in the desired direction. The lamps can be swiveled to conveniently store the opener. Press it firmly to the back of the opener as close to turn the reading lamps on and off. To install the garage door opener, first open the compartment door by pressing the latch forward.
