Emachine W3609 Beeps Three Times After Adding More Memory

ii have a emachine w3609 and it had 2 memory sticks that came with it. I took out the one that was for 256mb and i want to install it again but when i install it the computer turns on but beeps three times and will not boot up..what can i do to fix this..

It sounds like the memory stick is bad. If you didn't use a anti-static wrist strap when touching the memory stick you may have damaged it. Also make sure the stick is inserted into the slot correctly. When installing it you want to push down evenly on both ends of the memory stick until it snaps into place.
