Secure Methods Of Money Transfer Through E-bay

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN; I HAVE BEEN IN TOUCH WITH A SELLER VIA VERMONT'S CRAIGSLIST ABOUT A CAR THAT I'M CONSIDERING TO PURCHASE. THE SELLER WANTS TO COMPLETE THE MONEY TRANSACTION THROUGH E-BAY AND ASKED ME TO WIRE THE FUNDS VIA WESTERN UNION TO A 'SUPPOSEDLY' EBAY AGENT IN ENGLAND. IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN MY UNDERSTANDING THAT EBAY USES PAY PAL. ACCORDING TO THE SELLER, THE FUNDS WILL NOT BE RELEASED TO HER UNTIL I CONTACT EBAY TO CONFIRM THAT I HAVE RECEIVED THE CAR AND THAT I HAVE DECIDED TO PURCHASE IT. I WANT TO BE CAUTIOUS AS TO AVOID BEING SCAMED. DO YOU DEAL WITH WESTERN UNION AND IF SO, I'M WONDERING WHY THE MONEY WOULD NEED TO BE TRANSFERED OVERSEES. I WOULD APPRECIATE YOUR TIMELY RESPONSE. I would stay AWAY from this seller!! Yes, Ebay uses Paypal for secure transactions. Western Union is the first automatic red flag for a scam. It sounds like the "seller" is trying to make it LOOK legit by throwing in the "Ebay" name. *They should HAVE to post the listing on Ebay FIRST, in order for the transaction to be covered by their payment protection plan (if the seller does not follow through on their end). However, STILL be very cautious on Ebay/Paypal also. Look at their Feedback Status FIRST! And see what other type of items they've sold, etc. I hope this helps!

*One lesson I learned: I sold an item but the buyer wanted a refund. Out of kindness, I refunded the item right away after the buyer said she would return it. Well, she never returned it - AND she rec'd her $ back! I called Ebay...although I already knew the answer, they stated I should have waited to receive the item back before refunding the customer. Oh well! I learned VERY FAST how some people can be in this world.
