Buying Car Through Ebay Need To Know A Few Questions

I'm buying a car fron a lady that said she was going to use ebay. She wants me to give her me name,address and phone # to get it started. I'm to give u all the money and when the car is delieved to me I have 7 day to deside if I want it and if i do I'm to contact so u can give her the money. What I'm needing to know is how do I know for a fact it's on the up and up. I know there's alot of scams out there and don't want to get missed up in one.

There are dozens of eBay Motors scams. Unless you do a background check on the seller and the car, you are risking a lot. I would never buy a car through eBay.

First off it is possible to have a smooth transaction on any sell through eBay. This one being so large and expensive is of course a bit scary. You can go ahead and complete the transaction through eBay as requested by her but please do so by following these guidelines:

1. AFTER inspecting the car up close and in person, you may make payment through Paypal only!

2. Do NOT hand money over directly to seller in ANY form. Doing so removes eBay from the equation and you will have no protection.

3. Have the title signed over to you immediately after making payment through Paypal.

4. Make sure you request a Carfax report to make sure the car has a clean title, unless it has been otherwise disclosed.

Do not make any payment until car has been inspected by you and you wish to continue with purchase.

Making the payment through paypal protects you the buyer and the seller. If the car turns out to not run the very next day you can open a dispute through Paypal to get a refund (kind of like a 30 day warranty). The seller is covered knowing the money is in there account before they sign the title over, and if they refuse for some reason to sign over the title you can of course open a dispute. Its really a win-win situation for everyone this route. Again I advise you not to make any payment until you have inspected vehicle in person. Good luck!
