How Do I Reply To A Comment On The New Youtube?

Some dumbass executive at Google had the dumbass idea of forcing users to use the abomination known as Google Plus to comment on youtube. Since then, I haven't been able to reply to any comments even after I signed up for the useless service. How do I reply?

You can only reply to comments posted by Google+ users. If a comment was posted by someone not using Google+ or the comment was made before that user joined Google+ then you cannot reply to it.
