Didn't Sign Up For Youtube Account, But Have One Associated With My Email?

I was on Youtube the other day and noticed a personalized homepage (I has signed into my Google Account) so I clicked on it. It walked me through a process and then gave me the same homepage has before! Then a couple days later I start receiving emails from Youtube, although I didn't sign up for anything! I unsubscribed and then the next day I received more promo offers! So i unsubscribed again! Now I go to Youtube and it shows up that i have an account! PLEASE HELP! WHY DO I HAVE A YOUTUBE ACCOUNT!?!?!?!?!?

YouTube is part of Google. Anything you do within your Google account can be connected to YouTube. By clicking on the update function for your home page, you probably inadvertently signed up for something. Just cancel it if you don't want it.

This is just an automated thing that good had done, since google actually owns youtube they  have all rights to create a youtube account for you, BUT it is not an actual youtube account so you can't actually upload videos as such, but you can always log off youtube and stay logged into gmail. There is no threat here it's just something that google automatically does for anyone who has signed up to an email account with them.

If you want to remove YouTube on your Google Account, you can try to do so by signing in to your Google Account, visiting your Google Accounts page here: https://www.google.com/settings/account

and clicking the "edit" in the My Products section. Some products may not be removable though, just as a side note.

You can also control what notifications YouTube sends you by going to your YouTube Account here: http://www.youtube.com/account_notifications

Gmail and youtube are both linked. By signing up for Gmail, it gave you a Youtube account as well. You don't ever have to use the YouTube account if you don't want it. It is just there as an option if you ever do want it.
