Yg2800i Generator Ac Light Flickers On And Off, No Output
Our 2800 generator was fine until yesterday. Now it starts and runs smoothly at a fixed speed, but the AC light flickers on and off. There is no load plugged in. All wires and connectors appear clean and no components on the regulator boards seem to be burned or melted. The output voltage fluctuates wildly, sometimes reaching 115 volts, but only for a moment. If there are brushes feeding the rotor that would seem like the problem, but I have no information about the inner workings of the generator itself.

As you state the engine is running fine then the problem must lie in the electrical side. Varying voltage can be caused by incorrect loading or a loose connection. You should check the wiring from the generator to the output with a multimeter. There are no brushes as it uses an induction system of generation. First verify that the voltage into the control board is constant. This will prove the generator. Then check at the output of the control panel. It could be just a loose nut giving you the problem.
