Whirlpool Model Ed5lhaxws02 Can't Remove The Removable Ice Bucket

press button and appears to work but bucket will not lift out

Turn off switch to make more cubes on right side inner wall of freezer.

The spline on the shaft underneath the large white assembly for rotating the arm inside of the clear plastic cube holder has rusted together. Also moisture builds up between the removable container and the area the container sits on. It takes a lot of force to seperate. Careful not to dislodge the clear cube holding area from the white plastic tray. Comes off way to easy, reglue as necessary. Once loose put grease on shaft and spline underneath to reduce rust. Dry the area between removable container and where it sits. Remount tray but do not turn on cube switch until it is cold again. Otherwise the new cubes will melt on the warm tray.

I also had the shaft stick to the spline area on the bottom of the tray. It pulled up and then would not turn in the motor down deeper in the door. There is 2 screws that had to be removed, then the hex shaft. I had to push a white plastic sleeve back up on the shaft up in a vise to get the hex shaft to reseat on the motor. GREASE IT! not oil.
