Whirlpool Portable Dishwasher Model Dp940pwsq Overflowing

We have a Whirlpool portable dishwasher model dp940pwsq.  When I ran it today water started overflowing onto the floor.  I checked to make sure nothing was blocking the drain inside and all looks good.  What may cause this?
