Problem With Westinghouse Lcd Monitor
Hello:
I have a Westinghouse LCD Monitor that has worked Flawlessly until today. It is about 3 -4 years old (approx).
The model is L1951LW The Monitor IS getting power But the screen is Dark. I need help in figuring out if this can be a inexpensive fix or if I need to replace. Thank-you.....Robert

The problem with most LCD monitors over time are 2 things. 1). capacitors on circuit board have run their life 2). fluorescent backlight has run its course.
In my experience, #1 is the first culprit. If you are handy with a soldering iron, this is about a $10 fix.
Open up the lcd by prying off the back panel(first remove all screws holding base).
Unscrew all the screws holding the cover over the circuit board. You may need to take off the threaded rods on the DVI and DB16 connector to get cover off.
once you have a visual of the circuit board, look for any capacitors (round cylindrical looking things) that have a domed top or have a whitesubstance coming out the top.
If you find any with domed top, they need to be replaced. Parts are available at RadioShack or Frys.
Before you pull any wires out of the circuit board, take a picture so you know which wire goes back where.
If none of the capacitors are dead, then it is the fluorescent tubes and you can find them on the web for about $4-$5each.
