Replace A Hard Drive In A Wd Nas
we have a customer using a wd nas raid 5 with 4 drives one of the drives failed my boss purchased a replacement drive and when he put it in it did not automatically rebuild the array. the other drives are WDC WD10EAVS-22D7B0 and the new drive is a WDC WD10EAVS-00D7B1 its status is new and unassigned. it would appear that the only way i can assign it is to rebuild the array and lose the data, I do not want to do this. I am wondering is it because we have the wrong drive even though it has the same size the part number is different is this why it didnt auto rebuild?
