Paddle Shifters In 2013 Gli Jetta
When I downshift with Paddle Shifter to lower gear, the car seems to shift right back to higher gear in short time. All Paddle shifters I have had in past stay in selected gear until you change either higher or lower. Thanks

Think if this paddle shifter as a shift limiter. Meaning, when it's in 3rd, it acts like an automatic limited to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gears. Shift to 4th and it will use 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. When you go to 4th, if the transmission isn't ready for 4th, it will stay in 3rd. However, when in 4th and you downshift to 3rd, it will immediately downshift because you have taken away 4th. This is much more useful when decelerating or keeping your car from shifting in the middle if a hard curve. It is of little or no use when accelerating through the gears other than you can keep it in a low gear a little longer.
