Can Verizon Take 675.00 From Bank Acct 4 Newly Closed Acct Final Bill W/o Contac

15 yrs loyal VW customer. 3 to 4 phones always on my account. Always auto paid. Always been happy w/verizon even though you do pay more fees with them. I had a police report of my stolen un insured iphone which I reported to verizon immediately. I already was paying for another phone that I had had on my account but the person got married and I was so nice to just pay the use fee until contract ended for that phone. And my husbands phone was still on the account. So I paid for three had two actual phones on the account working and paid by auto pay each month. I was a dream customer. Not a nightmare this I know. My husband and I had unemployment hit us hard in 2012-13 so when I got my iphone for my birthday 10/2012 I opted to not get insurance yet cuz I know you can add it on later. I have even had verizon customer service say my phone was covered when it wasn't once when I had my new phone fall right into the toilet. I only had it 6 hours and I really did think I added insurance to it. You can pull up my account and see what kind of customer I have been. My friend worked at verizon 13 years and she told me my account was a good account. People who call up and yell, scam, threaten CS employees at verizon are noted as such on their account details. My paying on time in full comes up. I'm not flagged as a problem customer.So my iphones stolen and I'm shocked at the price verizon wireless charges their 15 yr loyal customers for a new iphone. Even a used iphone is jacked up in price unless I'm a new customer. But my husbands got a upgrade coming in October. October 11th. This is August 25th. Less than two months away and he loves the phone he has and tells me to use his upgrade to get another iphone. I have needed phones before and it's verizon thats told me about swapping upgrades like this but this time for some reason I don't know why (and that bugs me too) they don't authorize and tell me that verizon has had to become strict with a lot of things they use to offer customers in situations like this. But I know that they still can if they wanted to. I totally expect my being with them 15 yrs and paying out the bazoo monthly to them will finally pay off. Nope! I'm almost in tears. Yeah a baby I'm not but theres so much emotion that happens when your personal things stolen from you. The price is more than the price of replacing that phone. So after waiting two weeks and asking again. Mind you I am paying for three phones and only one is in our possession and active. I was turned down again. I was furious and shut the account down right then and there. I was surprised that no one even tried to keep me Verizon wireless customer. Seriously. I was shocked!!!!! I'm still shocked and it's now Dec 2013 and I have a new 5S iphone with verizons competitor. So far so good. NOW HERE'S MY QUESTION. I always auto paid my monthly bill. And always before it auto deducted from my bank account I would receive a text and email about reviewing my bill. When I closed this account the woman on phone said that I would have to pay early termination fee's and she wasn't sure really the amount but possibily 650.00 but that I would receive a final closing bill on the account. That very day my bank showed it made it's usual payment to verizon. This time the bill was just under 300.00. Imagine that price for one phone line. And after 5 days I started looking in the mail for the closing bill. I couldn't go online to access online bill pay with that account which is stupid. I wanted to give them 100.00 a month set up on this now closed account. Two days later, seven since my last payment to them my bank account shows overdrawn. My granddaughter and I are out buying school clothes for her and I call my bank and listen to whats just been paid out and verizon went into my bank account on a closed account and took from me in full an amount that I never got to view before and ask questions about. This one act by them along with the stolen iphone and criminals now with my personal information ruined me!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm serious. Im in forclosure, I can't afford my gardener, i got rid of cable tv. my alarm system, I sold one of my cars, I'm working any odd jobs I can find. Is this legal though? Doesn't verizon have to send me a final bill first and even then allow me to ask questions about the bill, charges on it,and offer me payment arrangements when I call them to say ahhhhhhh wow thats highway robbery!??? I live in CA. pic is a picture of broken screen. Just before my phone stolen my granddaughter had ahold of it and dropped it down a few stairs. I replced the LCD and the screen at 225.00 A week later this same iphone is stolen out of my locked car at a friends yard in the evening. A police report submitted next day.
