Efile Is Rejected Saying Duplicate Social Security Number

When I attempt to efile I get a notice that a tax return has already been filed with my social security number. I have not previously filed a return. What is happening?

Do you have a dependent who may have already filed using that SSN? Are you SURE the number you entered is correct? Here are some other solutions and a number you can call if you have eliminated all other possibilities and suspect fraud:
