I cannot tell if I have really gotten this downloaded or not

If you are downloading the Norton Software, the easiest way to check is to go to your downloads folder to see if the .exe file is located therein. If, however, you are downloading a patch- go to your Add/Remove Programs section of your Control Panel and see if the update is in the program files listed. If it is not, you may have to redownload- if it is than you should be fine.
