If the original coolant in your vehicle's cooling system was red, then you should use only Dex-cool coolant for the life of your vehicle. If the original coolant in your vehicle's cooling system was blue, then you should use only silicate based coolant for the life of your vehicle. Even if the cooling system has been completely drained before a refill, do not switch types of coolant. To check the fluid level, look on the side of the reservoir.
