Blinking Led Light

The TV is hard to turn on and stay on. The LED light blinks fast for hours at a time if the TV won't turn on. When the TV comes on, it may stay on for anywhere from 2 minutes to 2 hours. What kind of service is required to fix this problem?

Sony has a thing when you first turn them on, they blank the video and audio and heat up the picture tube and run a test. The test will adjust the balance between the red, green and blue guns. After which, when the picture tube is balanced, the picture is turned on and you see the best picture the tube can deliver. This works great until the tube grows weaker, then it takes longer and longer to get it to balance. Then it will get to the point that it will come on then turn off, like where you are now. Unfortunately the price to fix this is too expensive. A technician might get a little more out of it, by bringing up the "G2" setting, but it will not take long to be back in the same boat. Almost every other manufacturer will let the customer continue to watch a bad picture, but Sony is Sony, and they do it their way, no bypassing this feature.
