Should My Bdp-s390 Hdmi Cable Be Directly Connected To My Samsung Tv?

Should my BDP-S390 HDMI cable be directly connected to my Samsung TV, or my Sony Home Theatre HT-SS360? I cant seem to control the Home Theatre volume with the Blu Ray remote. Thanks-

If you connect it to the home theater, then the home theater will have to be on every time you want to watch a blu ray.  If you connect it directly to the tv set, you will have to run a fiber optic cable back to the receiver for surround sound.  Hope this helps.
