Pattern Stiches Are Heavy & Unreadable On The Top, But Look Normal On The Bottom

The pattern stiches and alphabet stiches are heavy and unreadable on the top, but look almost normal on the bottom. I'v tried to adjust the tension higher and lower, and it doesn't make a difference. I've checked my bobbin it is correct, I've checked the thread, it is correct. I'v tried to make it larger and smaller, nothing seems to make it any better. Can you help me?
