If you have removed all the covers of your Singer 6699 I STARLET and the hand wheel is still frozen and the drive shaft won't turn, there could be a few possible causes:
  1. Thread Jam: Check the thread path for any jammed threads that might be causing the machine to seize up. Remove any tangled threads from the bobbin area, needle area, and other parts of the machine. This can happen if the thread is not threaded correctly or if the thread tension is not adjusted properly.
  2. Clutch Disengaged: Check to see if the clutch is disengaged. The clutch is the mechanism that connects the hand wheel to the machine's motor. Make sure the clutch is engaged by pushing in the hand wheel or tightening the clutch knob.
  3. Belt Slippage: The belt that connects the hand wheel to the motor may be slipping or broken. Inspect the belt for any wear or damage. If the belt is damaged, you will need to replace it.
  4. Internal Gears: If none of the above solutions work, the problem may be internal to the machine's gears. This can be a more complicated repair and may require professional servicing.

If you are not comfortable with troubleshooting the issue or if none of the above solutions work, it is recommended that you take your machine to a certified Singer repair center for further examination and repair.

Why is my sewing machine handwheel stuck?

Turn the handwheel toward you once again to see if it is locked. Sometimes the bobbin case can be out of place and will not allow the handwheel to turn. If you broke a needle and it fell into the shuttle area, it can also cause the handwheel to jam up.
