My Hdmi Inputs Stopped Working On My 52 Inch Sharp Aquos Lcd. Model #lc-52d64u

The normal problem with HDMI inputs that quit working is from monster cables weighing so much that the input jack gets damaged or repeated pulling in and out wears out the jacks. But this will stop one from working and the others will work, unless it's the HDMI cable itself.
The next thing that can go bad is the circuitry on the "Main" board failing and this can stop all of the HDMI inputs at once.
Both of these scenarios will require a new "main" board to repair. I did some research on the part number of the "main" and it turns out that there are two different boards that is used in this model series. It matters what serial number is on the unit. DUNTKE207FM01S is the first series until serial number 712871111 then it changed to a DUNTKE558FM01S. Then to throw a monkey wrench the made a kit to upgrade the DUNTKE207FM01S to a DUNTKE207KIT1 that includes two boards total.
Finally there could be a firmware upgrade to fix compatibility problems. The newest version can out February 2010 and it's a 2.17. I don't think that there is a way the customer can perform this upgrade. As a technician they give us instructions on how to do this, and it's in the service manual. I'm not familiar with the consumer site and all that's available. If it was me, and I wanted to know if it's a compatibility problem, I would either hook up another DVD player and if it works the contact Sharp for options. Don't forget to get a flashlight and a magnify glass and look at the ports on both the source and the TV and change the cable too.
