Cd Player Reads 'no Disc'

My brand new DH950P works great in all other modes, but I can't play any CDs. I insert a disk and get the "no disk" message. I'm using comercial CDs that played just fine on my old player. I would check the laser lens if I had any idea at all how to do that. What advice can you offer?
