There are many things that can cause this.
  • Blown fuse (may be outside or inside of set)
  • Power supply blown.
  • Screen driver circuits blown.
  • Wall outlet defective.
  • Loose power cord.

Steps to troubleshoot include:

  • Have you verified the wall outlet is good?
  • Is the cord plugged in tight?
  • When you try to turn it on do you hear anything? Humming, buzzing, clicking, anything at all? (power supply probably dead if you hear nothing.)
  • Does the set smell like burnt electronics? (if so something burned up)
  • Do any lights come on at all. (if so power supply likely good)
  • Anything at all on the screen? Does the back-light come on? (examine in a dark room) (if so the screen itself might be bad.)
  • Try unplugging it for 30 min. Then hold down the power button and plug it in. Hold the button for a few secconds, then let go. Anything happen? Sometimes that will reset the microprocessor.

There is nothing user serviceable inside the set. If you can isolate the issue using the steps above it may help in the repair. Its very hard to properly diagnose these things without being there in person so I HIGHLY recommend that you take the set to a service shop. If its new and under warrenty, take it back ASAP and demand a new set.

These things are mass produced and so they do fail. Lets just hope the repair isn't too expensive.

Good luck
