Sanyo Hdtv Film Or Filter Over Picture

We have a Sanyo HDTV Model DP50747 .  We have like a white pattern filter over the picture. We haven't figured out how it got there or how to get if off.  We tried to remove the white pattern both through manual and auto adujust but didn't seem to change anything.  Is there a reset that would reconfigure or is this likely something more complicated?  Could it be that the bulb is going out?
