How Do I Get The Camera To Zoom?

I have the samsung intensity 1 (SCH-U450). My old one broke (same phone) but the camera could zoom. When I got this new one, it couldnt zoom. My brother has the same phone and the camera can't zoom. How can I get it to zoom? Thanks!

It's not documented anywhere, but the camera can only zoom when not in full-resolution mode. You need to turn the resolution down from 1280x960 (start the camera, options, resolution, select a lower option).

In lower resolutions, the circle button controls zoom and balance. Holding the phone as a camera (sideways), left and right zoom out and in (respectively) and up/down make the image brighter/darker.
