I Am Having Trouble With The Screen Freezing Up What Would Be The Problem?

My Samsung HLR4266WX/XAA is having problems also with the video hookup. When I use the video cables to hook something up the screen is in black and white. But the main problem is with the picture freezing up while I am watching tv. I will sometimes last for 20 minutes before it finally unfreezes.

First of all, the black and white problem is a simple wiring problem. You are inputting a composite video (a single wire, usually yellow) into a component input (three wires to show the video (green, blue and red). So move the input wire to a yellow colored jack and change to that input. On some newer sets, the input jacks can actually change functions between component and composite. If all three jacks have something plugged it them then it's automatically switched to the higher resolution component. So make sure you are not putting the red and white for the audio into the video jacks. The reason I want to get these inputs working correctly is so you can watch something from this input and see if this input ever has the picture freeze. If it works fine (no freeze) then I will suspect your freeze problem is a weak signal.

In the old days when you had analog stations, if the signal strength dropped you had a snowy picture. Now that every thing is digital, when the same signal goes weak the picture freezes or blocks of square appear.

I don't know if you are using an antenna, a cable input, a cable box, or a satellite box, but i suggest next time it acts up, simply switch the input to the video jacks and test that. If it's good on the other inputs, then a bigger antenna or re-direct the direction it's pointing to, or call the cable company or your signal distributor.
