2006 Aero Conv. Sid Removal And Repair

Does anyone have an idea of how to remove the SID sys.. it has no pixals whatsoever, and ive heard that if you iron the ribbon.. it may bring it back. Any truth to this? If not.. how much is a replacement? Any feedback would be helpful.. Other than that, we love this car!
