Has This Sander Literally Blown Apart For Other Users?

The die cast rotating disk in my sander blew apart into four major pieces all of a sudden...exploding the side of the housing, and shooting parts all over the room. I am wondering if this is a fault in that part. I have had the sander for awhile, but it has never been abused.

Seems rather obscure for something like that to happen. I would suspect that maybe yours was made on a Friday afternoon and not had lubrication added. This would cause it to run dry and would eventually fail.

Sounds like it is beyond economic repair if the outer case is damaged as it is not safe to use. If the unit is over a year old you will not be able to obtain any recompense so I would suggest investing in a new sander.
