How To Scan Directly To Network Folder.

Hi, if you have a network folder already created and set up, all you'll need to do is create a new entry in the copier's address book (User Tools/Counter > System Settings > Administrator Tools > Address Book Management > New Program) and enter the folder path under the Folder tab.  You'll also need to enter a user name and password (if needed) so that the copier can access that folder.

Once you have the entry in the address book created and pointing to the right folder, you can just press the Scan button, place your document in the document feeder, select the folder destination, and hit Start.

Share the folder and give EVERYONE read/write permissions. 

Change Local Area Network Settings to reflect Netbios settings as follows: 

highlight Internet Protocol (TCP/IP),  Click the Properties button to access the TCP/IP settings On the bottom right of the Properties pop-up, click the Advanced button. From the Advanced TCP/IP settings menu, select the WINS tab.  Check the following settings based on the Network setup: 

1. Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP
2. If DHCP is in use, enable Use NetBIOS setting from the DHCP server.
8. Click OK to save the settings.

Unless you want password protected folders, go into 

On the computer, enter the IP address of the scanner such as 192.160.1.20.  Enter Administrator Mode. Passwords for most machines are on the internet but let's just use admin and password for username and password.

Create a folder in the Address Book or its equivalent. Copy the "network" address of the folder on the computer, not the computer folder, such as,

\\Mike's Computer\Dropbox\Divorces instead of c:\Dropbox\Divorces

Oh yeah, unless you want password protected directories, which just kill me, then on Windows 7 and Vista, go into your Homegroup and change the Advanced Settings to Turn Off Password protected sharing.  Scan away.
