Adding A Second Subwoofer

I have a RCA RT2911 Surround sound system. I would like to add a second Subwoofer, I would like to know if I can do so and If I can should I add another passive Subwoofer or get and active Subwoofer? Your help in answering my question would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Garry
