That should be your first stop.
The manual does not discuss setting the time/date. This usually means the device is getting it from the phone line. Each time you place the handset in the base unit it will "re-register" with it. That should be enough to get the time in sync. If re-syncing with the base unit does not reset the time you could have an issue with the phone or phone line. Try plugging in the base unit at a friends house to see if it picks up the time. Short of that you may need to send it in for service.
