07 Pontiac Torrent Power Steering Won't Work

My 07 pontiace torrent steering column feels locked. Had to replace old battery. When getting in the car to drive I noticed I couldn't turn my wheel like it was locked. Stability Control signal on my dash. Says stability control off. Can somebody please help me!
