What Could Be The Reason That My Car Isn't Getting Any Power Or Starting?

I have a 2003 Pontiac Montana Van. Yesterday morning when I crank it up it crank up a little slow. I thought that it was just cold and needed to warm up a little but it did it again that same day so I took it to Auto Zone to get the battery checked. The guy said that the battery had a 74% charge but it had a bad cell in it and needed to be replaced. It wouldn't crank back up so they tried jumping it off. It wouldn't crank still so I left it there until this morning. This morning my brother went with me to get a new battery. He had to take the fuse box out to get to the battery because it sits on top of the battery. When he was putting the new battery in we saw some sparks a couple of times because he was trying to get the battery to sit in right and be able to reach the back of it to screw the screws back in. The battery has the side cables rather than on top. When we got the battery in he told me to try and crank it. When I turned the key the lights and everything came on but it didn't crank up. He told me to try it again and it did nothing. No lights, nothing. He thought that he had blown a fuse so he checked the ignition fuse, the battery fuse and another fuse called ec something and the were all ok. Is there another fuse or do you know what may be wring with it? Sorry its so long but I wanted to be as detailed as possible.

So sorry to hear that your vehecle is giving you grief. I wish I could give you the answer that is definate but there're to many variables. Thanks for the detail, most questioners write a few words to a few lines but not enough detail to answer their ?.

"When we got the battery in he told me to try and crank it. When I turned the key the lights and everything came on but it didn't crank up. He told me to try it again and it did nothing. No lights, nothing."

This quote tells me it is still a power problem. Two possibilites, you have a short circuit that is draining the battery rapidly or a fuse blew.

One other thought, some pontiacs from 2000 and up have a security feature that, if triggered, will not allow the vehicle to start. In order to fix this propblem the computer has to reset. This can be done by placing your key in the ignition and turning it to the ACC mode. Do not place in the ON mode. Once the key is in the ACC mode the dashlights should all be on. Let the vehicle sit in this ACC mode for 15-30 minutes. The computer should then reset itself and the vehicle should start.

I hope this is helpful to you!
