Heater Is Blowing Cold Air

The battery went dead and when I charged it up the heater will only blow cold air. You can change the air flow to heat, defrost, floor and vent but no warm air. The display lights on the dash seem to work fine. We had this happen last winter and were able to reset it by unhooking the outside temp. sensor for a while and after letting it run for a while unhooked hooking it back up and it has worked ever since until now. We have tried unhooking sensor and nothing happens.
