How To Replace The Drivers Side, Outside Door Handle?

Are the outside drivers side door handles interchangable?  My son's outside drivers side door handle broke and rather then buying a new one, wanted to just switch them.  Not sure how to do this yet, but thinking I could just switch the two?  Thanks!
