People say to look at the manual--that's not the definitive answer they wish for us to believe it to be, though. They don't really know. The people who wrote the manual aren't the developers of the hardware--nor are they experts with the Android OS.
OK. A USB keyboard case is included by Amazon with your Droid. I now have more hope of success of a USB keyboard working for me.
Conceivably, you may connect a bluetooth stub. (Perhaps you need an adpater to mini-USB which fits into the mini-usb port--easily obtainable online.) Somehow, get the Android driver for that stub activated in the apps, if necessary. The stub hopefully then might facilitate communication with the keyboard. It's likely that the USB port must be somehow configured for that stub, as well.
Youtube has many videos where Kindles are rooted and even allow use of bluetooth stubs--then bluetooth keyboards work: Only after roorting are Kindles able to use any keyboards--including bluetooth. Stupidly, the Kindle OS (a variant of Android) just doesn't allow keyboard use. Amazon also has many associated posts (and, frustrated users). These sources may prove useful for reference. It is the Kindle OS, though. You're already closer to root than the Kindle OS. Such videos and posts only prove useful for rough references and demos concerning how to make bluetooth possible.
I'm not certain that you need to root. If you find that you do, someone on an Amazon post, who also owns your Droid, indicates invoking this search via google: "how do i add google play to a polaroid tablet?"
Rooting is a good thing, as a general rule. This eliminates the idiot limitations put on the device by Southern Telecom, at least.
Analogous to updating the BIOS on a PC or Laptop (the firmware), which can prove hazardous to them, rooting may prove hazardous to your Droid, too. Be careful and cautious, given this decision. In a sense, you're doing heart surgery! (OK, it's not that extreme!)
