Opening the headset was simply a matter of separating the two halves along the seam. I used a small, thin flathead screwdriver to gently pry the two sides apart. The sliding power switch just rests between the two sides and is not attached to anything so don't panic if it falls out when you open the device. As you can see, the two sides are connected to each other via the wires for the earphone so be careful not to put much strain on them.

Sadly, mine was a lost cause because it was the USB jack that broke off the circuit board and my attempts to solder it back on were in vain. I hope you have better luck with yours!
